Job summary

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in its Special Education Schools. This on-site evening position involves cleaning, light maintenance, and supporting school operations for students and staff.

You will work with teachers and administrators, perform routine cleaning, restock supplies, and assist with events. A high school diploma and custodial experience are preferred; Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR clearances and health

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in custodial or maintenance preferred, especially in educational or healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment and basic maintenance tools is expected.
• Clearance requirements include Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR within 1 year of hire and health record submission.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas; sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and empty trash.
• Sanitize surfaces and restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Conduct routine maintenance; change light bulbs and assist with minor repairs; report issues to Facilities Manager or Principal.
• Set up and arrange furniture and equipment for events and meetings; assist with moving materials as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to support school operations and communicate effectively.
