Job summary

Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a Day to Day Substitute Custodian for Pathfinder School (Finance). The role focuses on cleaning classrooms and facilities, sanitation, and basic maintenance to support daily school operations.

The position is on-site with evening hours and possible weekend work. A high school diploma is required along with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and pass clearances as per district policy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash.
• Sanitize frequently touched surfaces to maintain a hygienic environment, following health and safety guidelines.
• Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs, minor plumbing repairs, and basic upkeep of school equipment.
• Report any major maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Manager or Principal.
• Ensure that all entrances, exits, and pathways are free of debris and potential hazards.
• Lock and unlock school facilities as required, ensuring security measures are followed.
• Assist in emergency cleanups, such as spills or incidents that require immediate attention.
• Set up and arrange furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and special programs.
• Assist staff with moving materials or equipment as needed.
• Respond promptly to requests for cleaning or maintenance assistance during school hours.
• Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff to support the needs of the school community.
• Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor when interacting with students, including those with diverse abilities and needs.
