Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking a 2026-2027 Custodian (Location TBD) for the Custodial Services team in Springfield, MO. This immediate opening requires you to provide cleaning and maintenance to keep facilities safe and welcoming for students and staff.

Shifts run 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a starting pay grade of S120 and an hourly wage between $16.40 and $24.67. Candidates must pass background checks, a physical and drug screen, and a pre-employment test.

Qualifications

• Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned facilities and grounds to maintain a sanitary and safe environment.
• Plan, prioritize, and schedule custodial activities with other staff.
• Inform students and staff about safety and maintenance guidelines.
• Inspect facilities for safe operations and identify needed repairs.
• Maintain supplies and equipment for proper facility upkeep.
• Monitor areas to help prevent injuries and ensure site safety.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and events as requested.
• Perform snow removal to ensure site access and safety.
• Perform minor maintenance on custodial equipment and fixtures.
• Prepare written materials documenting activities.
