Job summary

Newberg SD 29J District in Newberg, Oregon is seeking a full-time Custodian to maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of assigned facilities. The role requires knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, two years of custodial experience, and the Medic First Aid Card.

Fluency in English with Spanish preferred; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks is expected. The position offers a 2:30pm–11pm shift, twelve months, and comprehensive benefits including PERS contributions

Qualifications

• Two years custodial experience required.
• Knowledge of cleaning safety and use, experience with floor finishing and waxing.
• Certification: Medic First Aid Card.
• Ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking students and adults preferred.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work with minimum supervision.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of custodial duties, including cleaning and minor maintenance.
• Report maintenance needs to the principal and Maintenance Supervisor.
• Lock and secure doors, windows, and turn off lights.
• Report fire and safety hazards and emergency maintenance concerns.
• Dress, speak, and act in a responsible manner with respect to the job assignment.
• Handle hazardous wastes and chemicals according to laws, district procedures, and MSDS.
• Monitor inventories or required supplies and coordinate to assure adequate quantities.
• Facilitate pre-approved after-hour uses of facilities.
• Keep outside walkways free from leaves and debris.
• Cultivate and model a respectful working environment.
• Communicate with students, parents, and staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English, Spanish, or other languages.
• Work harmoniously with others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
