Job summary

School District 197 is seeking a custodian for district-wide facilities in Mendota Heights, MN. This 8-hour per day, 5‑day workweek position operates in the evenings and covers multiple schools across the district.

Duties include routine custodial tasks, event setup, and ensuring a safe, clean environment for students and staff. Qualfied applicants will operate custodial equipment, follow safety procedures, and maintain reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Able to operate equipment associated with custodial operations.
• Knowledge of standard safety procedures associated with this work.
• Able to follow oral and written directions.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record are required at all times if driving district vehicles.
• Ability and proven record of reporting to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Hands on and or written test may be administered to verify ability.

Responsibilities

• Performs regular custodial duties such as mopping, sweeping, dumping trash, cleaning glass, vacuuming, changing light bulbs etc.
• Reports maintenance needs to Lead Custodian/Building Engineer
• Locks and unlocks doors in building according to scheduled activities
• Set-up and clean-up for special events
• Pick up trash outside the building and assist in removal of snow as required
• Other tasks as directed
