Job summary

Great River Health in Iowa seeks a Respiratory Therapist to assess patients, develop and administer therapy, and monitor responses. You will operate ventilators and related equipment, educate families, and work with a care team to improve lung function.

The role requires an Iowa license and CoARC-certified program completion. The position features a 6:00pm–6:30am schedule, holiday and weekend requirements, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• AA in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC approved program.
• Iowa license as Respiratory Care Practitioner required.
• ABMS/NBRC registry or equivalent certification preferred.
• 1–2 years acute care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of patient services, safety, and ethics in care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests supporting evaluation of cardiopulmonary functions.
• Educate patients and families on disease management and therapies.
• Determine treatment requirements per physician orders and safety rules.
• Explain procedures to gain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
• Maintain patient charts and infection control measures.
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment.
• Provide emergency care including CPR and ACLS-aligned responses.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and report to physicians.
• Team with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals.
• Demonstrate procedures to trainees and supervise staff.
