Job summary

ENCOMPASS COMMUNITY SERVICES is seeking a Residential Counselor for the Santa Cruz Residential Recovery location. The role focuses on counseling and support for clients, reporting to the Program Manager.

The position is full-time and scheduled for the swing shift (3:00–11:00 PM). Responsibilities include maintaining curriculum and records, providing clinical services such as case management and group counseling, and coordinating with the supervisor.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in related field or HS/GED +2 years’ related experience.
• Registered Addiction Specialist preferred.
• SUD Counselor Registration, through CCAPP or CADTP, will be completed during onboarding.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) not required, preferred.
• Valid California driver’s license, safe driver record and use of personal vehicle required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the program curriculum and schedule.
• Provide clinical services including case management, group counseling and crisis assistance.
• Facilitate curriculum, psychoeducation and group counseling.
• Evaluate participant progress and provide feedback to participants as needed.
• Provide support and supervision to participants as needed.
• Respond to and document program and participant issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and timely records and prepare and submit reports as needed.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties necessary to the position.
• May coach and provide feedback to staff on curriculum and client services.
• Work afternoon/evening/weekend hours.
• Maintain clinical charts and complete required paperwork per guidelines.
• Coordinate with supervisor and report concerns.
• Perform health outreach, information, referral, eligibility, access assistance, planning and coordination activities.
