Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children (WPSBC) seeks a Behavior Specialist Assistant/Technician for its Residential Program in Pittsburgh. The role supports behavioral interventions under PBSPs for students in the Residential and Overnight Program, with a non-exempt status and evening schedule.

The position emphasizes collaboration with daytime staff, crisis response, and data collection to monitor PBSPs.

Qualifications

• RBT certification (or willingness to obtain within one year of hire).
• Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.
• MANDT training preferred.
• Experience working with students with multiple disabilities, including visual impairment, preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavior support for residential students with PBSPs and/or those exhibiting challenging behaviors.
• Assist residential staff in managing students with challenging behaviors.
• Respond to crisis situations and provide 1:1 coverage as needed.
• Assist with PBSP implementation and data collection as directed by supervisor.
• Cross-communicate with daytime staff to collaborate on evening interventions.
• Assist with personal care routines (hygiene, mealtime, dressing) as needed.
• Order behavioral materials used by evening staff (fidgets, beanbags, reinforcements).
• Provide training or assistance with training for Residential staff on PBSPs and Mandt System.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
