Job summary

UPMC Shadyside Hospital is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher for the evening shift (2:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.). The role involves monitoring alarms, dispatching staff, and managing the facility's operations center duties to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical duties for Operations Center-related activities including preparing purchase orders, manual typing, word processing, filing and telephone answering as required.
• Under supervision schedules the work of outside service companies and prepares service outage announcements.
• Monitor and administer the access control system and manage employee access cards as appropriate.
• Ensure patient safety by monitoring building alarm systems and responding to alarms.
• Monitor CCTV locations and dispatch Facilities personnel as needed.
• Receive calls for service and dispatch appropriate personnel to respond to incidents.
• Maintain logs for all calls and operations center activities.
• Operate the work order system, handling on-demand and preventive maintenance orders.
• Compile and distribute maintenance announcements to department reps and contractors.
