Job summary

Southridge Behavioral Hospital is a joint venture serving up to 96 adult and geriatric patients across four units. We seek a Psychiatric Mental Health Technician to provide evidence-based care under RN and Shift Supervisor guidance.

Full-time evening shift (3pm–11pm) in the Grand Rapids area, with every other weekend. Opportunity to grow through career ladder and cross-training within UHS network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification; can obtain once hired.
• Experience working as a psychiatric technician preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Human Services related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ongoing assessment of patients' safety and emotional needs.
• Follow treatment plans and provide individualized interventions.
• Assist patients with grooming and personal hygiene as appropriate.
• Participate in groups and activities to meet patient needs.
• Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients and staff.
• Support safety and a therapeutic milieu; use de-escalation and, if needed, physical management.
• Make rounds every 15 minutes or sooner to ensure patient safety.
• Assist the RN with admissions, discharges, vitals, and orientation.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Human Services related field

CPR certified

Experience as psychiatric technician preferred
