Job summary

Southridge Behavioral Hospital seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Technician for the night shift in the Grand Rapids area. You will support patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Shift Supervisor, including safety assessment and routine care tasks.

Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, assisting with ADL, participating in groups, and maintaining a therapeutic milieu with de-escalation when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Human Services related field preferred but not required.
• CPR certification (Can obtain once hired).
• Experience working as a psychiatric technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in ongoing assessment of safety and emotional needs of each patient.
• Demonstrates awareness of treatment plans and provides intervention/care accordingly.
• Assists patients with grooming, ADL and personal hygiene as appropriate.
• Participates in assigned groups and activities to meet patient needs.
• Maintains therapeutic and professional rapport with patients.
• Participates with staff to maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu; uses de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Makes rounds every 15 minutes or sooner to ensure patient safety.
• Assists RN with admissions and discharges; performs vital signs, searches, and unit orientation.
