Job summary

The Suffolk County Sheriff's Department seeks an Evening Prison Librarian for the House of Correction in Boston. The role supports education and rehabilitation programs, providing inmates with library and legal materials in line with state standards and constitutional requirements.

You will supervise the library during the evening shift, deliver services, curate collections, procure materials, and support programming while ensuring access to legal resources and computers as allowed by policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies, or library experience, or correctional education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the operation of the library during the evening shift (1:30 - 9:00 PM).
• Provide reference and reader's advisory services to inmates.
• Maintain and develop a general library collection for use by inmates.
• Assist in selecting and procuring library materials through new purchases and donations.
• Maintain and update a law library to ensure inmate access to legal materials.
