The Suffolk County House of Correction in Boston is seeking a Prison Librarian for the evening shift to manage library services for inmates, ensuring access to books, legal materials, and information resources in compliance with standards.

Under the Education Director, the librarian will support educational and rehabilitative programming, provide reference services, maintain collections, and collaborate with custody staff to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

Qualifications

• Supervise evening library operations and workflow.

Responsabilités

• Supervise the operation of the institution library during the evening shift.
• Provide reference service and respond to information requests.
• Maintain and develop a general library collection for use by inmates.
• Maintain an adequate law library to ensure inmate access to legal materials.
• Deliver library materials to special population units without direct access to the library.
• Assist in formulating schedules and procedures to assure access to library services.
• Provide inmates access to computers and internet content as permitted by policy.
• Train and supervise inmate library workers.
• Prepare reports and maintain statistics.
