Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and certification from a medical phlebotomy program or medical assistant program; at least 1 year phlebotomy experience in hospital settings. Familiarity with Cerner or Epic is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification from an accredited medical phlebotomy program, medical assistant program or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting; ECG experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, billing and coding is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner and Epic Healthcare Information systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary draws, blood cultures, and POC testing.
• Conduct ECG exams and document results in the electronic medical record system.
• Use reports to complete or cancel/discharge specimens to ensure compliant billing.
• Escalate issues to leadership when results do not cross into the medical record.
• Provide customer service to physicians and other healthcare staff.
• Stock and monitor laboratory supplies; notify management of shortages.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Laboratory.
