Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician for a part-time late shift in Chicago. The role includes venipuncture, capillary sticks, ECG testing, and processing specimens, with emphasis on accurate lab operations and patient care.

You will use EMR/LIS systems to audit tests, communicate results to the care team, and maintain inventory while adhering to safety guidelines. Excellent customer service and teamwork are essential in this environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited medical phlebotomy program or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• One year of venipuncture, capillary sticks and ECG testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture/capillary and ECG testing.
• Process specimen collection and prepare for transport to external processing facility.
• Utilize EMR/LIS to audit pending/cancelled tests and streamline communication of results.
• Provide excellent customer service and phone etiquette.
• Stock and monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and notify management of shortages.
• Perform ECG exams per physician orders.
