Qualifications

• 0–2 years phlebotomy experience required.
• Ability to collect venipuncture and capillary samples from all age groups.
• Strong communication and patient care skills.
• Strict adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
• Accurate documentation and specimen labeling per procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) per policies to ensure timely specimen collection.
• Ensures positive patient identification using two identifiers and bedside labeling.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens while maintaining sample integrity.
• Explains procedures to patients and provides reassurance for a positive experience.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace.
• Documents patient and specimen information in the lab system accurately.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered and prioritizes tasks.
• Identifies/resolves specimen issues and recollects as needed.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to resolve orders and communication status.
• Follows safety requirements and accreditation standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
