Qualifications

• 0–2 years phlebotomy experience required.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
• Ability to perform blood collection techniques across all ages.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection per policies to ensure timely specimen collection.
• Ensures positive patient identification using two identifiers and proper bedside labeling.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens while maintaining sample integrity.
• Explains procedures to patients and provides reassurance to ensure a positive experience.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace per safety standards.
• Documents patient and specimen information in the laboratory system.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered and communicates specimen status with the healthcare team.
• Identifies and resolves specimen issues, including recollections when necessary.
• Maintains compliance with laboratory safety and accreditation standards.
• Maintains regular attendance and adheres to all policies.
