Job summary

The Elliot Hospital Laboratory is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant – Phlebotomist for the Main Campus Second Shift Lab. This full-time role (40 hours) runs 1:30PM-10PM with rotating holidays and weekends, requiring holiday and weekend coverage.

The position emphasizes phlebotomy, specimen handling, clerical duties, and coordination with physicians and staff to ensure timely lab operations. Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen labeling, EPIC order entry, and communication of results.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient requisitions and ensure patient data is complete and correct.
• Enter laboratory orders into EPIC and document collections.
• Perform routine venipuncture and capillary collection across age groups.
• Prepare specimens for processing and transport, label correctly.
• Receive and verify specimens, assist with results communication and technical questions.
• Manage follow-up work lists and troubleshoot issues.
