Evening Pharmacist (Part-Time) - Patient Care Leader

Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a part-time pharmacist for the evening shift to deliver patient-focused pharmaceutical care across all ages. You will review orders, supervise staff, and ensure safe drug use while maintaining confidentiality and high professionalism.

You will work with a care team to optimize pharmacotherapy outcomes, mentor technicians, and participate in training and policy adherence to MercyOne guidelines.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree from ACPE-approved college.
• Licensed or eligible for Iowa pharmacist licensure within 3 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets physician orders for appropriate drug/dose by patient age/weight.
• Oversees medication preparation and delivery to care areas in a timely, secure, and workflow-appropriate manner.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to provide pharmacotherapy recommendations for optimal outcomes.
• Supervises technicians, interns, and students during shifts to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Maintains quality and safety through quality checks and documentation of errors and improvements.
• Provides drug information to healthcare professionals and patients ensuring safe use of MercyOne medications.
• Participates in orientation and training of pharmacy staff and students.
