Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System seeks a Patient Transporter for the Evening Shift (1:30 PM – 10:00 PM) in a full-time role. The transporter will move patients, equipment, and specimens throughout the facility, assist with transfers, and greet visitors while ensuring safety and care protocols are followed.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and CPR certification by orientation end; prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure / Certification: CPR “HeartSaver” Required by the end of orientation.
• Experience: Prior work experience in the health care field preferred.
• Effective Communication Skills
• Ability to lift and transport patients.
• Ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing and pulling.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.
• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department. Assists staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.
