Job summary

City of Hope invites applications for a Patient Transport Tech responsible for moving patients within the Medical Center, using wheelchair, bed, gurney, or ambulette. The role includes lifting, transferring, and ensuring patient safety under the supervision of a transport supervisor or manager.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification within three weeks of hire, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• One year in a similar healthcare position or customer service field.
• BLS from American Heart Association obtained within three weeks of hire.
• A valid Current Driver’s license.
• Preferred: understands basic medical terminology; able to communicate clearly with patients and care team.
• Transport or lift team experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments using wheelchair, gurney, bed, or ambulette.
• Uses lift and safety equipment to transfer patients between beds, wheelchairs, gurneys, or vehicles.
• Sets up orthopedic frames and traction following physician orders.
• Transports deceased to body holding area and releases them when requested.
• Transferring and repositioning patients requiring moderate to total assistance.
• Assists family members, visitors, and/or vendors as needed.
• Assists with supply requests and transports medical records, X-rays, equipment, specimens, mail, and reports.
• Performs cleaning and disinfection of patient care equipment.
