Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Transfer Center professional to coordinate patient transfers for Birmingham-area hospitals. You will collect clinical information, match needs to facility capabilities, and facilitate timely acceptance while ensuring compliance with EMTALA and internal protocols.

The role requires accurate data handling and responsive service through the transfer call center. The position supports full-time PM shifts and operates within a comprehensive benefits program including

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and 2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates internal and external patient transfers for UAB hospitals by collecting clinical information, matching patient needs to facility capabilities and facilitating timely acceptance.
• Collaborates with departments and referring providers to ensure efficient patient flow and appropriate bed assignment.
• Maintains accurate data, follows clinical and regulatory protocols (including EMTALA), and ensures compliance with quality and communication standards.
• Uses electronic systems competently and provides professional, responsive service through the transfer call center.
