Job summary

University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, seeks a Part-time Pathologists’ Assistant to join its surgical pathology team. The PA will assist pathologists with gross examination and prosection of tissue for histology and support intraoperative consultations.

This role requires a bachelor's degree in pathology or related field, PA certification (ASCP) or within 90 days, and at least one year of experience in anatomical/surgical

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in pathology or related field.
• PA certification from ASCP, or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Combined experience/education may substitute minimum education.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in anatomical/surgical pathology.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and prosection of tissue for histology.
• Assist pathologists and participate in intraoperative consultations.
• Instruct residents, fellows and students as required.
• Support grossing and histology staff to identify workflow improvements.
• Triage research tissue collection as needed.
