Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Pathologist Assistant to perform gross description and dissection of surgical specimens and assist in autopsies.

Responsibilities include arranging photographs, organizing conference materials, and mentoring residents and students. The role requires graduation in science, ASCP certification or equivalent experience, and qualification to conduct high complexity testing under CLIA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in science related field is required.
• ASCP certification or 3 years experience as Pathologist’s Assistant preferred.
• Must be qualified to perform high complexity testing under CLIA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and performs examinations of surgical specimens.
• Uses voice-activated transcription system to dictate gross descriptions.
• Assists in preparation and performance of post-mortem examinations.
• Participates in the orientation of new staff; teaches/mentors residents and students.
• Handles multiple assignments as necessary, with an ability to adapt to changes.
