Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking a part-time Specimen Processor to support specimen receipt, transportation, processing and distribution across UMHS laboratories. The role emphasizes accurate data entry, quality assurance and timely communication with medical staff and lab teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to walk 3-5 miles, climb stairs, lift up to 10 lbs., and bend repeatedly during an eight-hour shift.

Responsibilities

• Specimen transport from inpatient units to UMHS laboratories and storage areas.
• Receive, sort, and distribute specimens to work benches; process urine specimens and send-out paperwork.
• Enter orders into the computer system; manage Mi-Chart orders and labels.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers and complete required documentation.
