Job summary
Surly Brewing Company in Brooklyn Center, MN, is seeking a Second Shift Packaging Associate to support our beer packaging line. Responsibilities include palletizing cases, operating fillers, loading kegs, and maintaining sanitation routines per SOP. The shift runs 2pm–10pm, with a $3.00/hr differential after 8pm.
The position offers a base rate of $20/hr plus our full benefits package (Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, PTO, etc.).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to learn operation of downline and upline equipment.
- Forklift training completed; safe operation of powered equipment.
- Troubleshooting skills on packaging equipment.
- Willingness to improve skills and adapt to procedures.
- Attention to quality and sanitation.
- Flexible schedule to meet production needs.
Responsibilities
- Palletize finished cases of beer cans and bottles.
- Assist in operation of fillers and replenish consumables.
- Load empty kegs into the automated washer and palletize full kegs.
- Operate cartoners, tray packers, depalletizers.
- Perform cleaning and sanitation per SOP.
- Use powered lifts after forklift certification.
- Assist in size changes to filler and formatting.
- Monitor printed coding and report defects.
- Watch line for defects and jam-ups; report issues.
- Collaborate with operators to meet shift goals.
- Learn troubleshooting of common malfunctions.
- Work with leads, supervisors, maintenance to build skills.
- Pursue teachable moments with skilled team members.
