Job summary

The University of Virginia's Darden School of Business is hiring a part-time Distance Learning Support Technician in Charlottesville, VA. The role provides technical support for live online learning programs, with evening hours from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities include setting up studios, recording and posting classes, live troubleshooting for remote students and instructors, training staff, and ongoing AV/IT support to improve the student experience.

Qualifications

Experience supporting A/V equipment and online conferencing software.
Ability to setup/troubleshoot professional audio/video equipment.
Troubleshooting Windows/Mac operating systems and mobile platforms.
Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
Excellent communication and customer service; able to teach technical features.
Ability to manage multiple tech support conversations simultaneously.
Willingness to learn new technology processes and techniques.
Creative problem solving combining technical and project management skills.

Responsibilities

Set up equipment and tests for primary and backup studios.
Record and post online classes to the learning management system.
Provide online class support with live troubleshooting for remote students and instructors.
Train faculty and students in one-on-one sessions.
Monitor and update studio hardware and software; seek efficiency improvements.
Identify technologies to enhance current infrastructure and future experiences.
