Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes basic daily living activities, vital signs, intake/output, nutrition, and safety responsibilities.

The position is 24 hours per week in the evenings, consisting of two 12-hour shifts. BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire. Prior experience is not necessary, but strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; post-hire 30 days to obtain BLS.
• Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Basic ability to read, write and perform basic four-function math.
• Ability to obtain knowledge of medical terminology, basic computer skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and complete activities of daily living.
• Take and record vital signs, height, weight, and oxygen saturation.
• Collect specimens and monitor intake and output.
• Assist with nutrition, room service setup, and feeding.
• Perform basic clinical procedures under nurse supervision.
• Support safety culture and infection control policies.
• Assist with orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
• Perform other unit-based tasks as assigned.
