Job summary

Cleveland Clinic's Lutheran Hospital seeks a Nursing Department Assistant III for the General Surgery 5D Unit. You will support daily living activities, assist with EKGs, glucose monitoring, specimen collection, and vital sign documentation as part of a dynamic care team.

The role offers an excellent entry point into nursing, with evenings 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. shifts and opportunities to advance within a world-class care environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification required within new hire period.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a wide variety of patient care tasks and collaborate with health care teams to promote patient care.
• Organize patient care assignments to ensure timely delivery of care on assigned patients.
• Document the care provided in the patient record and label specimens properly.
• Ask patients about pain and report to RN/LPN as needed.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of units, including equipment.
• Prepare rooms for patient admissions and clean/maintain equipment.
• Report problems to the RN immediately (equipment, supplies, maintenance).
• Make hourly rounds to ensure safety (side rails up, beds low/locked, call lights accessible).
• Ensure bed alarms are activated during rounds.
