Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Certified SPD Float Technician for a late evening/night shift. You will float between Bethlehem, Allentown, and Anderson/ASP, retrieving, decontaminating, and preparing instruments for patient care.

The role requires ensuring quality control and accurate packaging in a fast-paced SPD environment. The position emphasizes training of staff and externs, adherence to sterilization standards, and effective use of the instrument tracking system.

Responsibilities

• Provides Technician coverage at varying sites and workstation assignments to meet the operational needs of the department.
• Assists in the training and orientation of new employees as well as mentors students and externs from affiliated health career programs.
• Retrieves, sorts and decontaminates used materials, instruments, medical devices and equipment from nursing units and other departments per established procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the function and operation of decontamination equipment; uses PPE per policy; understands decontamination vs disinfection to prevent cross-contamination.
• Assembles and packages instrument sets and trays, inspects for bioburden, and ensures accuracy during assembly and labeling; replaces missing/broken instruments per protocol.
