Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to retrieve, decontaminate, and sterilize medical instruments for patient care. You will assemble case carts, perform quality checks, and ensure items are properly packaged.

SPD certification is required within 18 months of hire, with eight weeks of orientation provided. The role is on-site and physically demanding, with standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent use of fine motor skills to assemble

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• SPD certification required within 18 months of hire.
• On-the-job training with 8 weeks minimum orientation period.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves, sorts and decontaminates used materials, instruments, medical devices and equipment.
• Performs quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness and proper functioning of instruments.
• Performs high level disinfection (HLD) on items that cannot be sterilized.
• Assembles and wraps items in correct packaging material for sterilization.
• Sterilizes wrapped items by steam or ETO.
• Prepares case carts for the Operating Room.
