Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Nurse Manager for House Operations in the Adult Inpatient unit. This 80% position leads a skilled nursing team, delivering safe, patient-centered care and guiding daily operations on the evening and night shifts.

You will manage staffing, budgets, and clinical education, mentor future leaders, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes. A BSN or higher, Iowa license, and 3+ years of leadership are required, with certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing required; advanced degree preferred.
• Current Iowa nursing license or eligibility to obtain license.
• 3+ years of nursing leadership experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to foster a welcoming and inclusive work environment.
• Proficient in computer software applications.
• Certification in a nursing role or specialty or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to establish efficient systems to optimize patient outcomes.
• Monitor unit budgets and analyze variances; implement corrective actions.
• Apply HR policies and manage leave and CBAs.
• Allocate resources to meet quality and productivity targets.
• Mentor staff and support education of health care students.
• Promote evidence-based practice and collaborative problem solving.
