Job summary

Advocate Health's Good Samaritan Hospital - Observation Unit is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant to support RNs with patient care in a 24-hour unit. The role includes 2-12 hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, with alternating weekends and holidays. You will document vitals, assist with transfers, and help maintain patient comfort and safety.

Requirements include BLS and Nurse Aide registration in good standing. GED/HSE or high school diploma required.

Qualifications

Basic computer skills.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
Certification Addendum present.
Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications.

Responsibilities

Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, hygiene, feeding, mobility and transfers.
Measures and documents vital signs and intake/output; records in EMR.
Performs rounding and communicates observations to RN.
Assists in admission/transfer/discharge processes and room setup.
Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
Carries out errands, stocks nursing area, cleans equipment and workspaces.
Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique.
Maintains skin integrity and uses required patient care supplies.
Follows infection prevention policies and keeps age-specific patient needs in mind.
