Job summary
WMTV-TV/Gray Media in Madison, WI is seeking an Evening Executive Producer to lead the 4–10 PM newscasts across TV and digital platforms. You will mentor producers, shape editorial calls, and ensure punchy, urgent storytelling from screen to mobile.
You'll drive innovative coverage, manage breaking news decisions, and guide the team to connect with audiences online while serving the Madison community with impactful journalism.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years producing experience in a newsroom.
- Degree in Journalism or related field.
- Strong editorial judgment and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Digital-first mindset with audience-focused storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Lead the evening charge for 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10 PM newscasts with punchy, urgent storytelling.
- Coach and mentor producers to strengthen shows and rundowns.
- Make editorial decisions on story placement, scripts, and breaking news coverage.
- Coordinate reporters and editors to move quickly to action as news develops.
- Partner with News Director on station initiatives and election coverage.
- Drive content across on-air and digital/social platforms for engagement.
- Champion community impact in Madison through focused coverage.
