WFSB is a Gray Media station and market leader in Connecticut and Southern New England, seeking a dynamic Weekday Evening News Anchor to lead in the studio, on digital platforms, and in the community.

The role demands un-scripted live anchoring, enterprise reporting, and a vocal presence at public events, with a strong commitment to newsroom excellence. Candidates should bring 3–5 years of TV news anchoring and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications.

Qualifications

3–5 years of proven television news anchoring experience in a competitive market.
Ability to handle unscripted live breaking news coverage.
Proven track record as both anchor and enterprise reporter.
Passion for public engagement and involvement in local initiatives.
Digital savviness across major digital and social platforms.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
Full-time availability, including weekday evenings and events.

Responsabilités

Anchor & Lead: Co-anchor weekday evening newscasts with authority and editorial judgment.
Master Breaking News: Steer live coverage without a script with clarity.
Drive NextGen & Streaming News: contribute on streaming platforms with digital-first behavior.
Original Reporting: Enterprise and report impactful stories for all platforms.
Community Ambassador: engage with the community at events and station initiatives.
Digital & Social Engagement: maintain professional presence online to grow the audience.
Collaborate & Mentor: work with producers and reporters to elevate newsroom quality.
