Job summary

MedStar Washington Hospital Center is seeking an MLS with 1-2 years of experience to perform a broad range of laboratory tests from waived to high complexity under CLIA guidelines. The role includes specimen preparation, assay execution, result review, and maintaining data integrity.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent).

Qualifications

• 1-2 years MLS experience in a clinical lab setting, including chemistry, hematology, blood bank and micro setup.
• Ability to read, write and speak English to perform essential duties.
• Knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory testing from waived to high complexity per CLIA.
• Prepare specimens for routine laboratory assays and run analyses.
• Review and verify results, ensuring data validity and accurate reporting.
• Troubleshoot equipment and report problems to supervisor.
• Assist in training new staff and developing procedures to improve department efficiency.
