Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist II in Bangor, ME. This hospital-based role in the Core Lab Generalist team covers Hematology & Chemistry with rotation into Cardiac or Stat Lab.

The position requires a MLS with BS/BA in Medical Technology or related field; 1 year experience; ASCP certification preferred; evening shift 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, with rotational weekends and on-call. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time experience or training in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Preferred: minimum of 3 years clinical experience with most current year in present department.
• BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology; OR Associates degree in Laboratory Science.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in testing areas and troubleshoot department instruments/procedures.
• Provide support in quality control, troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, staff training, and process improvement.
• Perform and report analytical tests per SOPs ensuring quality control.
• Maintain specimen handling, processing, and records; meet turnaround times including STATs.
• Enter results into Laboratory Information System for physician review and reporting.
• Maintain safe, clean laboratory areas and equipment; complete training/competency checks.
