Job summary

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and state-approved Medication Technician certification, with prior experience in senior care environments preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Medication Aide/Medication Technician certification or successful completion of required state-approved medication administration training.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments to residents according to physician orders, delegated nursing authority, facility policies, and applicable state regulations.
• Accurately document all medications administered, refused, held, or discontinued in the MAR and other required documentation systems.
• Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, or changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the nurse or supervisor.
• Maintain accurate medication inventory, including receiving, storing, counting, ordering, and disposing of medications.
• Ensure medications are stored, secured, and handled according to guidelines and regulations.
• Conduct routine medication cart audits and medication record reviews for accuracy and compliance.
• Observe and document resident health status, reporting changes to clinical staff.
• Assist with scheduling medication refills and coordinating pharmacy services.
