Job summary

Merrill Gardens in New Bern, NC is seeking a compassionate Medication Technician for the evening shift from 11pm to 7am to support residents on their wellness journey and maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life.

You will administer or assist with medications, monitor residents for changes, help with activities of daily living, maintain accurate MAR records, and collaborate with the nursing team to ensure safe, person-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active CNA license, Nurse Aide Registry status, or equivalent credential required.
• Medication Technician certification or ability to obtain certification within state timelines.
• Minimum of two years caregiving experience or active CNA licensure.
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Administering or assisting with medications according to physician orders and state regulations.
• Monitor residents for changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive condition and report concerns to nursing leadership.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, dining, personal care).
• Maintain medication security, complete counts, and follow MAR procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and follow safety and infection control protocols.
• Support resident engagement, independence, dignity, and quality of life through person-centered care.
• Collaborate with team members, residents, families, and healthcare partners to ensure care and service.
• Assist with housekeeping, laundry, dining service, resident escorts, and other community tasks.
