Qualifications

• Registration as a Trained Medication Assistant (TMA) preferred.
• Minimum six month experience in long term care or assisted living residence.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must be able to prioritize, and organize work effectively and efficiently.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
• Must work as a team member with other personnel.
• Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
• Must be punctual, with good attendance record.
• Must remain calm in difficult or unusual circumstances.
• Able to read, write, spell, do basic math, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to residents using the MAR as a guide.
• Prepare medication for each resident’s administration with right drug, time, route, resident, and dosage.
• Ensure confidentiality of resident medication among staff and families.
• Document all resident concerns during medication administration.
• Complete resident treatments as outlined in the Treatment Administration Record.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of medication cart.
• Restock medication cart after passes; report medication errors immediately.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and required trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
