Job summary

Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 for the evening shift (2:30pm–11:30pm, every other weekend). The MLS 2 will ensure quality laboratory operations, support inspections, and act as a technical resource for staff and patients.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in science (MLS/MT preferred), 1 year of clinical experience or eligible NAACLS/ABHES training, and ASCP/AMT certification at start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science required or MLS/MT preferred.
• 1 year of clinical laboratory experience required; NAACLS/ABHES MLS programs accepted in lieu of experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification required at start.

Responsibilities

• Reviews technical activities for quality assurance per facility requirements.
• Participates and helps prepare Laboratory for self and onsite inspections.
• Follows site SOPs; annually reads SOP and documents knowledge of contents.
• Performs QC measures, documents results, and notifies QC problems as per procedure.
• Acts as resource person for coworkers and patients on technical questions.
• Reports accurate results while minimizing corrections.
• Other duties as assigned.
