MedStar Health in Maryland seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures in the core lab, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis, and to evaluate and report results for patient care.

The role involves maintaining instruments, ensuring quality control, training staff, and collaborating with pathologists on difficult analyses; hours are 2:30pm–11pm, Monday–Friday with every-other-weekend rotation.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in medical tech or related science.
• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
• Experience not required but appreciated; strong testing fundamentals.

Responsabilidades

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to quality and safety standards.
• Maintains inventory and stocks supplies; keeps work area neat.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment; troubleshoots issues.
• Performs quality control, evaluates results, and documents actions.
• Performs routine and specialized procedures; consults with pathologist on difficult findings.
• Prepares data for monthly reports; handles reagents, media, and materials.
• Processes specimens with proper identification and handling; may procure specimens.
• Introduces new procedures and trains staff; evaluates performance.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

Formação académica

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science

Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science

Equivalent education consisting of 60 semester hours, including 24 in medical laboratory technology

Equivalent education of 60 semester hours with 24 in science and clinical training
