Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Des Moines is hiring a Medical Lab Technician to join the Des Moines Medical Center laboratory.

You will perform tasks in the assigned section with minimal supervision, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with Medical Technologists to ensure accurate test results.

Schedule is 40 hours weekly, evenings; requires an Associate degree in science-related field, NAACLS/ABHES MLT program, and MLT certification with exam completed within six months.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in science-related field.
• NAACLS or ABHES accredited MLT program or equivalent that meets certification eligibility.
• Certification in ASCP or AMT for MLT; exam to be completed within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical information resource for MercyOne Des Moines Laboratory.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and troubleshoot to resolve them.
• Consult with Medical Technologists and/or Medical Laboratory Scientists when appropriate.
• Perform tasks and procedures specific to assigned section with minimal supervision.

Education

Associate’s degree in science-related field
