Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center seeks a Medical Lab Technician to join a large, community-focused health system. You will support the laboratory by troubleshooting test performance, acting as a technical resource, and collaborating with Medical Technologists across sections.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree in a science-related field, have NAACLS/ABHES MLT program completion, and are pursuing or hold ASCP/AMT MLT certification with plans to complete exam within six months.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in science-related field.
• Successful completion of a NAACLS or ABHES accredited MLT program or alternate path meeting certification requirements.
• Certification in MLT by ASCP or AMT (or eligibility with exam within 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Act as technical information resource for MercyOne Des Moines Laboratory.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and troubleshoot/debug.
• Consult with Medical Technologists/Clinical Laboratory Scientists as needed.
• Perform tasks and procedures in assigned section with minimal supervision.
