Job summary

Lakeshore Learning Materials is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic for the 2nd shift at our Midway, KY distribution center. This full-time role focuses on preventive maintenance and repair of facility infrastructure and material-handling equipment, including conveyors, motors and electrical systems.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in a warehouse setting, proficiency with hand and power tools, and forklift certification or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a warehouse environment or equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
• Forklift-certified or willingness to acquire certification. Knowledge of forklift repair and troubleshooting a plus.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
• Ability to work in conditions that may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside, noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
• Able to work at elevated heights.
• Ability and willingness to perform limited overtime, including weekends and off-shift hours.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on the facility’s conveyor system using industry-accepted procedures, plans and manuals.
• Conduct maintenance and troubleshoot basic electrical and mechanical problems related to all material-handling equipment and components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot when required all motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, etc.
• Maintain and repair as needed the facility’s material handling, racking and shelving.
• Perform routine maintenance on the facility infrastructure.
• Maintain dock levelers and overhead doors.
• Ensure forklift batteries have appropriate water levels and are charged timely and correctly.
• Assist and support in janitorial duties as required.
• Demonstrate an awareness and compliance with Loss and Prevention and Safety policies and procedures.
