Hearst Newspapers - Big Rapids is seeking a hands-on Newspaper Mailroom / Packaging Department Manager to lead the evening production team at the Big Rapids printing facility. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and timely delivery of newspaper, commercial printing and mailing jobs.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of leadership or lead-operator experience in newspaper production, printing or packaging preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production equipment.
• Ability to operate equipment and work alongside the production team.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of mailroom, packaging, inserting and finishing departments.
• Train, coach and develop evening shift staff.
• Coordinate labor, equipment and materials with production schedules.
• Ensure safety, quality and on-time production goals.
• Maintain records of production, waste, timekeeping and maintenance.
