Job summary

Hearst Michigan Newspapers is seeking a reliable Packaging Assistant for the Evening shift (Sun–Fri, 5 PM–1 AM). The role involves feeding pre-prints into an inserting machine, injecting mail, and coordinating postal distribution.

You will perform general area cleaning, assist in machine setup, load bundles, strap and stack bundles, and haul finished products to staging for delivery. Attention to detail and ability to lift up to 20 lbs are essential.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning of work areas and printing plant facilities.
• Assist in machine setup including bundle tops for mailing process.
• Load preprints into the inserting machine.
• Catch bundles off the packaging end of machine.
• Strap bundles with Strapper.
• Stack strapped bundles onto skids or carts.
• Deliver finished products to staging areas for delivery or pickup with skid jack.
• Tag totes and mail bags with proper tags.
• Cleanup of skids, bundles, and papers for recycling.
