Job summary

Mercer University is seeking a Library Assistant II for the Tarver Library on the Macon campus. The position involves front line circulation, reserves, security, and supervising student assistants in a team-based setting.

You will operate the circulation system, assist patrons, and support training while working evening and Saturday shifts. A high school diploma or GED is required, with preferred experience in an academic library and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Minimum 1 year of library experience or direct customer service experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patrons and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provides front line circulation service in a team-based environment under the daily guidance of the Circulation Manager.
• Operates a web-based circulation system and handles reserve services.
• Opens and closes the library building and aids in training and supervising student assistants.
• Shelves materials and monitors patron and building security during assigned hours.
• Works consistent evening shifts (until 10pm) and Saturday shifts.
