Job Description
Position Title: Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian
Location: Horace High School
Department: Maintenance & Custodial
Reports To: Buildings & Grounds Supervisor
Term: Year-round position
Schedule: Mon-Fri 3:30pm-12:00am
Salary: Position follows the 2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule at B215. Starting salary begins at $19.30-$21.10/hour, based on experience.

SUMMARY: The Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian is responsible, under limited supervision, for assigning, inspecting, reviewing, and providing direction to a group of custodial workers. The Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian ensures the district buildings and grounds are regularly and thoroughly cleaned, equipment properly maintained, safety standards upheld, and school grounds are maintained to the standards of the district. The Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian utilizes and orients staff in the use of the district’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for logging daily work assignments, individual work orders, and equipment records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Supports building custodians by covering gaps in service across various buildings.
  • Assists in all receiving and delivery operations.
Communication:
  • Connects and shares ideas through appropriate/applicable formats to express thoughts and ideas with integrity.
  • Provides building security by reporting all damages to the supervisor and ensuring all doors are locked at applicable times.
  • Maintains a current manual of safety data sheets on all chemicals and cleaning substances used in district buildings and assists other staff members in obtaining information from the manual.
  • Documents and reports safety hazards and potential facility, grounds, or potential security compromises or problems.

  • Tracks and sets up newly acquired equipment using the CMMS.
  • Reasons, interprets, and analyzes information to generate new knowledge and understanding.

  • Oversees and maintains safety and appearance of the district grounds by picking up and disposing of trash, removal of snow and ice, and mowing and trimming.
  • Assists in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Ensures all furnishings, supplies, equipment, grounds, and building interiors and exteriors are maintained for a safe, secure environment for learners, employees, and visitors to the district.

  • The employee may be required to lift up to ~30 pounds.
  • The employee must work with the public and various WFPS staff while simultaneously managing several competing demands.
  • The employee will work in an environment that has a quiet to loud noise level.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Previous experience as a building custodian is required.
  • Must be able to operate floor maintenance equipment, snow blower, lawn mower, trimmer, and all cleaning equipment.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences in the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement.
  • Adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.

  • None.
