Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Lab Assistant (Part Time, Evenings) is responsible for clerical tasks and specimen processing under supervision. You will ensure timely delivery of routine and stat samples, manage PKU testing documentation, and maintain Cerner EMR records while upholding infection control standards.

The role requires basic healthcare familiarity, strong organizational skills, and calm performance under pressure in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of customer service in a high-volume environment preferred.
• Two years in accredited healthcare facility office highly preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge highly preferred.
• Able to adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties and processes laboratory specimens adhering to department policies.
• Delivers routine, timed, and stat specimens within required turnaround times.
• Sends PKU tests to State lab and documents session numbers.
• Contacts for preventive maintenance on centrifuge equipment.
• Completes temperature reports for freezers/refrigerators.
• Follows Infection Control standards and uses PPE per policy.
• Scans PKU results into EMR and orders patient documents in Cerner.
• Answers phones promptly and takes messages as needed.
• Obtains supplies for specimen collections.
